Free meeting open to the public
The League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham invites the
public to
join us for a FREE meeting to learn about our nation’s agriculture
policies, funding and chemical/pesticide use.
When: Sunday
afternoon, February 23rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Unitarian
Universalist Church, 4300 Hampton Heights Drive in Birmingham
Who: Members
of the
League will present information about our nation’s funding policies for
agriculture, the new Farm Bill, the use of GMOs (genetically modified
organisms) in our food and the effects of those GMOs as well as
pesticides and other chemicals.
Joining us as a source of information will be the Honorable John
McMillan, Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries for Alabama
No reservations are necessary. Just come and join us for this
very
informational discussion of what we are growing to feed ourselves and
the world, what it costs and how GMOs may affect what we eat.
